As you approached the Friendly Farm Restaurant entrance, for our annual Chesapeake Region Membership Banquet, you were greated outside by this smiling fellow - possibly representing the many farmers responsible for the delicious food we were about to enjoy.

Upon entry, another smiling fellow, Technical Chairman Gary Ruby, warmly greeted you at the Reception Desk and checked off your name on the attendee reservation list.

The parking lot was filled with members' antique cars, all perfectly aligned by our resident parking expert, Director at Large: Gary Wilmer.

The weather for the Membership Banquet could not have been better: sunny and cool. The expansive Friendly Farm Restaurant site is a perfect location for our annual event.

Before the meal began, everyone had a chance to socialize. The beautiful floral table centerpieces were awarded to whoever had a birthday closest to the date of the Banquet.

Buffet serving containers were ready with warm fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and green beans. Cold foods available included cole slaw, cottage cheese and apple butter.

As everyone finished their fabulous meal, the awards presentation began, with Nick Prevas addressing the audience and announcing the results of the 2019 Chesapeake Region election. All elected and appointed persons will remain in their respective positions for year 2019.

Also receiving a 40-year Chesapeake Region membership award were Bill and Marylyn Bowers. Guide dog "Dussy" accompanied them to the podium.

Our newsletter editor, Bill Wurzell, was called to the podium to accept his special "Editor Award", for all his tireless and time-consuming work to publish The Chesapeake Bulletin our award-winning monthly AACA Region newsletter.

The award, specially crafted from a miniature replica typewriter, and quill pen, was quite a surprise for Bill, but very well deserved!

Our Chesapeake Region student members, who helped out the Club at our AACA Spring Meet, were called forward with their parents to receive scholarship awards to help further their education. Monetary awards were made possible from the proceeds of the 2018 AACA Spring Meet, to which they contributed.

For their annual service as "Officers of the Day" for the Hagley and Media Car Shows, Saint Patrick Parade, and Sunshine Grille, Gary and Vicky Wilmer, Nick Prevas and Joanne Day were recognized with an award.

In recognition of his considerable services provided for our 2018 AACA Eastern Spring Meet, Norm Heathcote was selected by the Board of Directors to receive the annual "Spirit Award."

With the photographs taken, the 2018 Chesapeake Region Membership Banquet, our last event of the year, came to a close. Surely everyone enjoyed the event and the delicious food. We look forward to an active 2019 year of Club events, and invite everyone to join in by participating and volunteering. You're sure to enjoy it!
